Spring! Today I felt like screaming from the rooftops about how great it is that Spring has finally arrived. Sunday surprised us with it’s +18 and we didn’t have to think long to get in the car and go to my beloved Sigulda to ENJOY it. If someone a week ago, on Easter Sunday, when it was raining and snowing at the same time, would have said that in a weeks time I would be running around the forest in a short-sleeved dress, warmed up by the warm sunshine, I would not have believed them.
Gauja National Park surprised us with the beautiful forest, that was really bright and green, in spite of the fact that none of the leaves or grass had come out yet. We saw butterflies, frogs, toads and lizards. I will probably never get enough of Noa’s excited face when he is discovering something new and is running through the forest, shouting for us to hurry up and follow him. Loud shouts about the bridges, steps, trees and the butterfly… it all infects the grownups and makes them wake up from the winter slumber and open their eyes in wonder.
The long-awaited sunshine, the smell of the forest and the smiley faces was such a dose of inspiration that I came home with a camera full of photos. While editing these photos, I was smiling so much and I am hoping they will make you smile too.
The most important attribute of any walk – a stick!
